We Work Hard, We Play Hard

The new job has actually been super-good so far. I have to admit that I had some dread at working the nine-to-five, but the schedule being rigorous has only served to make me a bit more studious. Rise at 7, to work by 8:30, I study most of the day: research papers on real time operating systems, planar graph theory, with a few hours of each day spent with co-workers debugging their code and tweaking their development tools. My brain is loving having actual stuff to do and learn. The fact that I know how to use a compiler and make kind of strokes the old ego, as well; we're too cheap to pay for commercial development tools (hear that, John Q. Taxpayer?).

The rigor is also getting me in better physical shape; every day I come home from work and run or ride. I can run 3 miles in under 21 minutes now. I wonder where some of my high school friends are...I was always the pudgeball back then that couldn't do 1 mile in 10 minutes.

Nekked.jpgAll the work and exercise fill my days, with just a spare hour or two for cooking, reading, and trying desperately to keep up with the goings-ons of friends and family (something that I seem to be failing at). At least my weekends are maintaining interest. This most recent weekend, a bunch of we merry SUOC'ers went out and explored Knox cave (my first time there).Knox.jpg

I only hope I can keep up the momentum. Running on empty sleep-wise isn't something that I care to keep up for too long :).

Reid is a hot piece of ass.
